The longest duration record was set by Bertrand Piccard and Brian Jones, flying in the Breitling Orbiter III. It was the first ever non-stop trip around the world by balloon. The two men exceeded distance and flight time records in their specially-designed Cameron Roziere Balloon, flying for 19 days, 21 hours, and 55 minutes.
Cameron Balloons Ltd has been at the forefront of technology, manufacturing most of the attempts and advising on several special projects, so if you have a record or achievement you want to set or break, we can definitely help.
Roziere Balloons combine the features of a hot-air and a gas balloon. A helium bubble within the hot-air envelope is filled to approximately half of its maximum capacity. The gas expands due to the warmth from the burners, heat from the sun or a drop in atmospheric pressure. This in turn helps the Cameron Roziere balloon gain altitude.
Performed exactly as predicted
The Cameron Roziere envelope with its insulating double skin behaved perfectly and performed exactly as predicted by computer simulation. This is undoubtedly the most famous balloon in modern history!
