Specialised altitude balloons can fly nearly four times higher than Mount Everest’s summit peak which stands at 8,848 mtrs / 29,028 ft (Everest’s summit is the world’s highest elevation above sea level).
Cameron Balloons Ltd specialise in unique equipment to fly huge distances. Distance flights are between two points from when the balloon leaves the ground on a flight until it touches the ground for the purpose of landing at the end of a flight.
In the history of aviation, only three balloons have ever completed this round-the-world flight successfully, and ALL have been built by Cameron Balloons Ltd, Bristol. Duration is for the greatest time between take-off and landing during a single flight. (Usually for a particular size and type of balloon.)
The GB1000 is a gas balloon filled with hydrogen. With greater lift for a given volume, it can offer much better duration than a regular hot air balloon.
