This floating pink ring was built for the Nuits Blanches celebration in Paris to the design of South African artist, Michael Elion. It is exhibited here at the National Archives building.
The structure is helium filled to provide lift and is held in place by tether lines. It is made from white fabric and the pink colour is created by the internal lighting system. To maintain rigidity, there is an internal ballonet pressure control system
